We are a team of volunteers, supported by many other volunteers and sponsors, with a passion  for the arts… especially arts within our community.  Our efforts and time is spent supporting the amazing creative talent that surrounds us all. Jen King- Office Manager

Jen King joined Five Rivers in November. She has 25 years of experience in administration and customer service. She excels at office organization and creative problem solving. She has great interests in the arts and commercial applications of design.

 

Five Rivers Board Members

Karl F. Saila- Chair

Born in Torrington, Connecticut and raised in Massachusetts, Karl is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  Retired from a career as a professional engineer associated with the paper manufacturing industry he has redirected his time to a lifelong interest in art.  Karl first moved to Brunswick in 1984 and has been a resident there except for 8 years in Connecticut and Rhode Island where he was an active member and the Sales Coordinator for the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery in Westerly, RI.  He has been actively involved with juried New England art shows and has a home studio, K. Saila Fine Art.

Debora King- Vice Chair

Debora King is the Executive Director of the Brunswick Downtown Association.  Deb has an extensive career working in the field of membership-based non-profits.  She began employment with the BDA on Oct 1 2012.  Prior to her job in Brunswick, she worked as the Executive Director of the Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce.  She and her husband Bill moved to Brunswick in June 2010. They had resided in Kodiak Alaska where Deb was employed firstly, as the Economic Development Specialist, then as Executive Director of the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce.  Deb is originally from Saskatchewan, Canada and moved to Alaska in 1998.

Heidi Harkenrider, Treasurer/Secretary

Heidi is the owner and manager of an accounting firm and has been instrumental in clarifying and updating the records and projections for all of Five Rivers’ operations. She has a history of community service in activities with her children and even pulls lobster traps in her free time.

Hati Modr-

Hati Modr has a lifetime of drawing and painting and music experience. She attended the New England Conservatory of Music. Degrees from the Baldwin School and the University of Maine refined her skills and philosophies of integrated art and years of living overseas focused her firmly in the arts. Hati has been on the Five Rivers’ Board of Directors for over 4 years.

Tom (Doc) Brudzinski

Doc has been a member of 5RAA for several years. He was trained as an architect and worked for 45+ years in the fields of architecture, planning and graphic design. Now in his “encore career’ ” Doc is the “Dessinateur-en-Chef” of LobstArt Studios whose goal is to help clients tell their story using art/illustration as well as having fun! He is honored to be part of the 5RAA Board!

Howard Search

Howard Search was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up on Long Island.  He graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy and was a registered pharmacist for 48 years until his recent retirement.

He also attended Plymouth State College where he pursued his masters in health education. He moved to Ithaca, NY in the 1960’s then to Vermont where he operated a community pharmacy for 26 years. After living in Vermont for 30 years, he moved to Gloucester Point Virginia where he lived for 12 years.

Photography has been a large part of his life dating back to his childhood.  He has attended Master Classes at the former Maine Photographic Workshops (now Maine Media Workshops) and has taught photography to adults and children. After retirement from his career as a pharmacist, he devoted his efforts and talent to photography.  Howard now lives in Brunswick with his wife, Sheryl (an oncology radiation nurse supervisor) and his two dogs, Mr. Utley and MaggieSue.

Hati Modr – Member Services Committee Chair

Connie Lundquist – 2013 Brunswick ArtWalk Committee Chair

For the past year, Connie Lundquist has been actively volunteering with the Five Rivers Arts Alliance, serving as the Coordinator of the Second Friday ArtWalks in Brunswick and the Interim Director of the organization. Connie has studied art formally for eleven years, although she has been making collages and doodling since childhood in suburban New Jersey. Connie works in her studio at 98 Maine Street in Brunswick, where you may see her art by appointment or during the Brunswick Art Walks.

A graduate of the University of Arizona, she has been in Maine since 1973. She spent many years in the legal field and provides clarity and logic on Five Rivers development. She has a history of community involvement including and serving with Bath and Midcoast Chambers of Commerce, as a trustee of the University of New England. on the College Neighbors Association, on the advisory council for Women, Work and Community, and the fund raising committee for Arts are Elementary.
