Contemplative Dance and Authentic Movement Classes
An improvisational movement form which requires no prior dance training, but rather a desire and willingness to explore the body’s natural impulse to move and to allow itself to be moved by the spirit.
Each session will begin with a warm-up period using Gabrielle Roth’s 5 rhythms, (aka The Wave). The opportunity for artistic expression through visual or written media follows the movement period.
SESSIONS ARE ONGOING and will be held two Saturday mornings per month from 10:00-1:00 at the Bath Dance Works, 72 Front Street, third floor, in Bath.

The coastal town of Castine, Maine is the ideal setting for plein air painting. The town and surrounding Penobscot Bay area continues to be a popular destination for many of America’s most famous artists.
The area possesses a stunning collection of beautiful landscapes, spectacular coastlines, historic architecture, and an abundance of unique New England charm.
This year’s one-day plein air festival will take place on Saturday July 27th (rain or shine). Thirty five artists will be accepted to participate in the event, which will include artist awards and a public exhibition, reception, and art sale. Host housing will also be available on a limited basis.

The 2nd Annual St. Mark’s Whatever Week Arts Festival will take place at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 9 Summer Street, Augusta, ME on Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
This event brings an enormous opportunity for artisans looking for newly developed markets.
The Arts Festival will feature quality artists and craftspeople offering fine art, pottery, jewelry, woodcraft, leather, art glass, fiber arts, and more on the grounds of St. Mark’s Church.
Advertising will take place throughout all major newspapers in Maine.
This Arts Festival is planned to coincide with Augusta’s Whatever Week Festival and will be held rain or shine.
Indoor and outdoor spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at $20/table.

, 18th Annual Juried Art Show at the Harlow Gallery
Hallowell, Maine -- The Kennebec Valley Art Association invites artist submissions to Art2013, the 18th annual juried show at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell. Art2013 is open to all Maine artists and also to artists with a strong connection to Maine. We are excited to announce that this years jurors are Bob Keyes and Dan Kany, both men are arts writers at the Portland Press Herald.
Over $1,500 in cash prizes and gift certificates from area business sponsors will be awarded at an awards ceremony at the exhibition's opening on Friday, May 10 at 6pm. Art2013 the exhibition will be on view May 10 to June 1, 2013 and is free and open to the public.
Original fine art in any media may be submitted, including hand pulled prints, photography and sculpture and fine crafts, including ceramics, glass and fiber art. Jewelry and clothing are not eligible. Each artist may submit up to three works of art. Entry fees ( $25 for members of the Kennebec Valley Art Association, or $30 for non members) are not refundable. The Harlow Gallery is owned and operated by the Kennebec Valley Art Association, membership-based 501(c)3 non-profit; jurying fees help offset the cost of organizing and presenting the juried show and are not refundable. Decisions of the jurors are final.
The deadline for electronic submissions is midnight on April 1, 2013. For a complete entry rules and instructions on how to enter Art2013, please visit the "artists opportunities section" on the Harlow Gallery website: www.harlowgallery.org. The jurors will do a first review based on the digital submissions. Artists whose work they wish to consider for the final review will be asked to deliver their work to the Harlow Gallery April 27-29 for a final viewing of the actual work.
