The majority of my work focuses on conservation, natural history (especially ornithology), the environment, and sustainability issues. I’ve written two bird-finding guides and more than 220 magazine, newspaper, and journal articles. I work with nonprofit and government organizations as well as with publishers, businesses, and individual writers. Some of my favorite projects in recent years have included editing the Chronicle, the Chewonki Foundation’s biannual magazine; serving as technical editor for a United Nations Environment Programme publication on cities and biodiversity, and editing several college biology textbooks.
