The Brunswick Public Art Group
cordially invites you to join us to celebrate the installation of the first public artwork originated by our organization.
- When: Wednesday, June 13, 2:30 p.m.
- Where: The new train platform on Maine Street (facing Hannaford)
- Rain location: 3rd floor of McLellan Building (behind the train station)
Titled “Farm Fresh,” Haq’s piece is a compelling work of art that celebrates the richness and variety of local agriculture.
Comprised of six colorful banners created by artist Tariq Haq, a recent graduate from Bowdoin College, the piece will be installed on the south wall of the Hannaford Supermarket & Pharmacy, in downtown Brunswick.
Each banner is more than 17 feet tall and 4.5 feet wide. Hung vertically and evenly spaced along the entire length of the wall, the banners will provide a strikingly beautiful, colorful contribution to our community for years to come.
Hannaford Supermarkets partnered with the Brunswick Public Art Group to sponsor this project, which was selected from among 19 proposals submitted by students enrolled in Mark Wethli’s spring 2011 Public Art Class at Bowdoin College.
Representatives of the Brunswick Public Art Group, Hannaford Supermarkets and a member of the Brunswick Town Council will join artist Tariq Haq in formally celebrating the work and speaking about the art project; light refreshments provided.
Parking is available in the many public areas around Brunswick Station, as well as the main parking lot in front of the Bowdoin College McLellan Building.
We hope you can be there with us to learn more and help us welcome this art!
